When it comes to coffe bars Berlin has it all – in abundance. We usually stay in the area of Prenzlauerberg, when visiting Berlin and there is ample choice between really good coffee bars here.

1.Röststatte Berlin, (A 173, 10115 Berlin, Tyskland)

My favourite. Not only do they have really good coffee, which they roast and grind themselves, but their croissants with apricot jam are hands down the best croissant, that I have ever had. In fact they were so good, that the boys and I had to get a second batch.

2. The Barn Cafe (Auguststr. 58, 10119 Berlin, Tyskland. Monday – Friday: 8:00 am – 06:00 pm, Saturday – Sunday: 10:00 am – 06:00 pm)

The Small café in Auguststrasse opened in 2010. It is in the middle of the gallery district and is a brilliant place to stop after a leisurely stroll in through the galleries. Sublime Coffee, but a bit on the expensive side. The café in Auguststrasse is the smallest, but very cosy and they make a lovely carrotcake to go with your coffee.

If you are travelling with your family, a good tip would be to get your coffee to go and walk 50 m. up the road to Koppenplatz, where there is a nice playground for the children and benches, where you can sit and enjoy your coffee.

The Barn Roastery in Schönhauser Allee (Schönhauser Allee 8, 10119 Berlin, Monday – Friday: 08:30 am – 06:00 pm, Saturday – Sunday: 10:00 am – 06:00 pm ) is the second location and opened in 2012. They have a very serious approach to their coffee, roast their own beans and showcase different ways of brewing coffee – and they just serve damn good coffee.

3. Distrikt Coffee ( Bergstrasse 68, 10115 Berlin, Tyskland)

Halfway up the quiet Bergstrasse is a lovely and very instagrammable café. They do a great breakfast, which we have not tried yet – a must do on our next visit. They also serve good coffee and we tested the carrotcake, which was good.
